Educated at the University of Miami and Louisiana State University, Jan Bertman’s graphic design career has taken her from Baton Rouge through Dallas, Texas, to New Orleans, where in 1990 she was Assistant Design Director at Tulane University’s Publication Department. As Assistant Design Director Ms. Bertman designed and art directed recruiting materials for undergraduate and graduate study. These projects varied in topics and budgets. Ms. Bertman’s designs for Tulane University received top honors from the University College Design Association (UCDA) and from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
In 1994, Jan Bertman started Bertman Design Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana. An award winning designer, Ms. Bertman’s work has been featured in Print Magazine, a national trade journal. Locally, Ms. Bertman has won top awards at the Annual New Orleans Art Directors and Designers Association Competition and at the American Institute of Graphic Arts New Orleans Competition.
Jan Bertman is a former boardmember of the American Institute of Graphic Arts chapter in New Orleans, a former instructor of graphic design at Loyola University in New Orleans, and a two term President of the New Orleans Art Directors and Designers Association. Her list of active clients include: Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett (MBLB), Jewish Endowment Foundation of Louisiana, Steeg Law Firm, Tulane Law School, Louisiana SPCA, and Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours.
